Top Five Things to look for While Hiring a Denver Personal Chef - Gourmet Away LLC

With a busy work schedule, you may not have the time and inclination to cook meals for your family. Instead of ordering in or eating out every day, you could come home to fresh, healthy, and nutritious meals by hiring a personal chef to take care of your cooking needs. A personal chef will do everything from menu planning, shopping for ingredients to chopping, stirring, and cooking to give you meals with simple heating instructions.

However, with a slew of options to choose from, selecting a personal chef while being certain of receiving quality results can be quite challenging. To help you narrow down your options and make the right choice, here’s a list of the top five things to look for when hiring a personal chef.

1. Reviews
What are people saying about a personal chef you are considering. For the things that you value, how do those reviews line up with those values? Look closely at the positive and negative reviews when considering.

2. Genuine connection
Having a good connection and trust is essential when hiring a personal chef. You want a chef that seeks to understand and listen to your challenges and frustrations related to getting dinner to the table to offer solutions rather than providing a cookie-cutter solution.

3. Experience
How much experience and what experiences does the chef have and how does that fit your needs? For instance, if you’re looking for vegan cooking, you need to find a chef that has experience with it. If a chef has been in business for twenty years but doesn’t have experience with vegan cooking and another chef has five years of experience with vegan cooking, that chef with five years’ experience might be a better fit.

4. Interaction
Consider the interactions you’ve had with the chef from the first meeting. Is it easy to reach them or get a callback? Will they do a free consultation with you and do they have processes in place that ensure consistency and dependability and written agreements? Are you clear about what it will be like to work with them? Do they share any expectations of you to ensure smooth working relationships? What systems do they have in place to get feedback from them? Ensure that you get affirmative answers to these questions before hiring them.

5. Flexibility
Look at whether they offer you services above and beyond their regular meal services. You might need them to prepare meals for special events or holidays. If you need your meals prepared outside of your home, you will need them to have a licensed kitchen where those meals can be prepared and delivered to you. Make sure you discuss your needs and expectations with them beforehand.
